Research has shown how important YOU are to your children and how as a dad the things you do, and keep on doing, really count, whether you live with them, or you are a single dad and are only able see them once a month, once a week or more, what you do really matters. This site is dedicated to all dads but will be of special relevance to the single dad. Remember, you are half the reason your children exist and they need you whether you live with them or not. As their dad, you have what it takes to make their lives successful and fulfilling no matter how often you see them. This site is about all the positive things that we as parents have to offer our children.

Treasure hunt

Lots of running about and finding things, great for indoors or outdoors, kids love finding stuff

A treasure hunt is a great way to kick off a party. It gets everyone running about looking for things. You can hide treats round the house or in the garden (this is especially good at Easter, when you can hide little Easter eggs around the garden), or you can go for the simpler option and ask the kids (or guests) to go and find certain things. Dadcando has turned the old fashioned treasure hunt in to a proper party game by creating special party game booklets which you can now download, right here.
. . .
There are five different coloured booklets so that you can split the party up into teams. Each booklet has lines inside so that the teams can mark off the things that they find as they find them, to be checked by you when they come back.
Game play
The party guests should be split in to teams (preferably pairs) and each pair or team is given a folded up game booklet and a tray, or bowl or shoe box. They decide on a team name and then write this on the front of the booklet in the space provided.
. . .
To introduce an element of game play and competition four of the items are awarded point based on a specific criteria, i.e., if the item to find is a leaf, it says biggest is best, then the biggest could get an extra point. If you want to balance up the scoring, you can use other ways to even up the scores, for example, the time it took, (i.e. quickest is best), or extra marks for artistic impression, where you tell the treasure hunters beforehand that you are looking for creative results and you will be scoring them on originality
Send the children out section by section
So that you can keep track of the kids and keep to time, send the children out to find the things on the list, section by section, so that they complete one section at a time, within a set time limit (will vary with age, but about 4 minutes per section should keep you on track).
Important
Make certain that you explain any safety rules beforehand, such as
No going beyond the Garden or
no picking the neighbours flowers or
no going upstairs
for example. If you are organising a party for younger children then you must have enough adults on hand to make sure you can keep an eye on all of them at all times. The winning team is the one with the most points, or you may decide that all teams win.
15 minutes This game should use about 15 minutes of your party time.
The Treasure Hunt printable booklet is available in both A4 and US Letter format. Just click on the one you want below to download. Although all colours of the game will download at once, if you only want a selection, then you can choose this when you come to print them.
