Cautionary Tales For Children
Wonderful witty poems great for reading to your children. The stories and rhymes will stay with them for the rest of their lives.

Research has shown how important YOU are to your children and how as a dad the things you do, and keep on doing, really count, whether you live with them, or you are a single dad and are only able see them once a month, once a week or more, what you do really matters. This site is dedicated to all dads but will be of special relevance to the single dad. Remember, you are half the reason your children exist and they need you whether you live with them or not. As their dad, you have what it takes to make their lives successful and fulfilling no matter how often you see them. This site is about all the positive things that we as parents have to offer our children.

Dream away a glorious afternoon making this lovely dreamcatcher

Dreamcatcher

The average person will spend about six years of their life dreaming. The famous psychologists Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung both identified dreams as a providing a connection between the conscious and unconscious mind. Jung specifically argued that each person that we dream about is a different aspect of our self (as the dreamer) or a part of our life.
. . . Dreamcatcher hanging on my bed There are two distinct legends about the dreamcatcher. In one, the sleeper’s good dreams pass through the hole in the middle of the web while their bad dreams are caught in the thread and dissolve with the light of day, in the other, the opposite happens, and it is the bad dreams that pass through the hole and the good ones are caught by the web and able to pass down into the dreamer. Given that this is called a dreamcatcher, I favour the second legend.
. . . The story tells of the mischievous Native American spirit god called Iktomi, who often took the form of a spider. Long, long ago, in one of his wiser moments, Iktomi appeared in a vision and span a web in a willow hoop that had been decorated with feathers and beads. As he span his web he explained how people must listen only to the good forces that acted upon their lives so that they might be steered in the right direction and live in harmony with each other and Nature. When he finished spinning his web, he handed the hoop back with the advice that it be used to help people reach their goals by making good use of their ideas, dreams and visions.
. . . You can now make one of these beautiful ornaments by following these simple instructions. If you don’t have any feathers you can easily buy some from a gift shop, or cut some out of fabric, or better still, plan a wild feather hunt. Thirty minute’s walk along a quiet country road or pathway should do the trick (it did for me). Take a picnic and make an afternoon adventure out of it. You’ll be sure to find plenty of feathers. (note: wash them very gently in mild soapy water if you are worried about germs).
