Research has shown how important YOU are to your children and how as a dad the things you do, and keep on doing, really count, whether you live with them, or you are a single dad and are only able see them once a month, once a week or more, what you do really matters. This site is dedicated to all dads but will be of special relevance to the single dad. Remember, you are half the reason your children exist and they need you whether you live with them or not. As their dad, you have what it takes to make their lives successful and fulfilling no matter how often you see them. This site is about all the positive things that we as parents have to offer our children.

Inspire your kids and give them something to think about when they're going to sleep
As Forest Gump said, “it’s funny what a young man recollects.” Like him, I don’t remember being born, nor what I got for my first birthday, but I do remember the pattern on the curtains in my first bedroom. We moved from that house when I was five years old, so that must rank as one of my earliest memories. I had chicken pox and spent what seemed like months lying in bed with the curtains half drawn. African animals running across an ochre linen landscape, chasing each other as the fabric fluttered in the gentle breeze, back lit by the afternoon sun of a long hot summer.
When I had kids of my own I wondered if I could make something as intriguing for them to look at as they lay in their beds; something different, something that they could lie and study in fascination and something that would hopefully give them a strong, positive memory that they would carry with them in to their own parenthood. . . .
It’s the strange little unique details on handmade things that makes them in to something that we become attached to, and helps turn our houses into homes. Bright colours, stencil painting or funky homemade handles can turn even the most boring piece of furniture in to a flight of fancy, and bring a bedroom alive.
Why not try these simple fish handles. The big fish chasing the little one, we know the little one will never get eaten because the handles are fixed to the cupboard doors, in any case he looks too quick and cheeky to get caught. Yet the bold shapes and colours and the tension of the chase make these handles an exciting, mesmerising and memorable accessory for any kid’s room. And they’re dead easy to make with our simple illustrated instructions.
(NOTE: The handles overlap slightly with respect to the door edge, but if you arrange them so that the little one doesn't overlap the opposite door, then all you have to remember is to close that one first.)
