Research has shown how important YOU are to your children and how as a dad the things you do, and keep on doing, really count, whether you live with them, or you are a single dad and are only able see them once a month, once a week or more, what you do really matters. This site is dedicated to all dads but will be of special relevance to the single dad. Remember, you are half the reason your children exist and they need you whether you live with them or not. As their dad, you have what it takes to make their lives successful and fulfilling no matter how often you see them. This site is about all the positive things that we as parents have to offer our children.

Your Lumos Wands

You see how easy it is. You can easily make your own truly magical Lumos Wand just like the one in the film and just like the lovely wands other people have made and sent us pictures of. All you need is an hour or so a few bits and pieces and our instructions and your well on the way to being a real wizard. Find our Magical Lumos Wand instructions here.
Lagesh’s Magical Lumos wand
This is my wand. It’s Lord Voldermort's wand. I moulded the handle of the wand with glue gun glue. It was very hard doing it! I used a white LED. I also used a normal switch to make it work. I didn't make a switch. Do you like it? Does it look like Lord Voldermort's wand?
Yes I do like it, and I think that it looks a lot like He-Who-Should-Not-Be-Named’s wand.

It’s nice to see you wielding it too, great stuff, thx for the pictures.
Dave′s Magical Lumos wand, with real unicorn hair core
We created a couple of wands based on your dadcando instructions for a Hogwarts Party. As you can see, they are a little different from your one. The Lumos charm is powered by a yellow LED and a thin battery that was larger than you suggested, but available. I decided to make it look like a decorative emblem that the glue-covered wire contacts when you press it. It works very well. In the second image, you can see the genuine Unicorn hair, a strand of which we inserted in the core. I am lucky that our horse is boarded at a farm with a real Unicorn. I worked out a deal with the owner that if I groom her (the Unicorn, not the owner) once a week, I can keep whatever hair falls out of her mane and tail.
Looks great, and thanks for the unicorn hairs, they will come in very handy.
Check out the unicorn hair. We were very, very excited to receive our own tiny supply of this priceless unicorn hair. Dave has even videoed the unicorn he grooms and you can see it for yourself here. now that is a long tale.

Special Unicorn hair… is there any other kind? Does anyone out there have any Father Christmas Beard hair, or even an eyelash perhaps?

Faez Potter’s Magical Lumos wand, with pigeon feather core
Thanks dadcando you helped me a lot. Finally I’ve made it. My wand with Lumos. I used Blue colour LED and used it to read my maths homework.
No problem, glad to help. The wand looks brilliant by the way, pity you can’t use a special charm to actually do your home work. Perhaps the charm, Preparartum Facillitatae might work for you.

Jonathan’s Magical Lumos wand
Following a successful build of Moody’s Mad Eye I decided to have a go at a wand. Using the idea from your magical wand I took 2 sets of 3 button cells and wired them in parallel in the handle along with a miniature micro switch from an old computer mouse. The end was fitted with a super bright LED from a cheap torch. I then got some pictures of the Harry Potter wand from the web and used them to model the wand from. The result is a wand that you can actually use to see in the dark just like Harry Potter when he says Lumos. I have a couple of jpeg pictures of the end result, hope you like them. Ralph, Jonathan’s dad.
Yes we do like them and think the wand looks great. I love it, it looks like it came straight out of the film.
